Wuhan, got you all in check
“haha i love this already. haha i’m seriously loling” – 49 centrolling stones vs. led zeppelin?
i think led zeppelin is way better than the rolling stones. but people seem to say that the rolling stones are like the greatest rock band in history. i think that the who are also better than the stones.
your thoughts?
the rolling stones – 19th nervous breakdown
VS.
led zeppelin – immigrant song
thanks to elbo.ws for helping me find these.
the chicky plug
chicky is a wonderful band in the city of brotherly love. they play post-punk-disco-funk for the adults and the children. their history can be found here. i am their interim manager and doing all that i can to get them to take over philly, which isn’t much.
check out their myspace which will quickly rise the charts as they record and release.
as they record, i will also put the mp3s here for easy access. enjoy.
i don’t think the phillies bullpen exists
the phillies bullpen is constantly making me sad. with myers and gordon out, we are left with such geniuses as yoel hernandez (5.02), brian sanches (3.38), clay condrey (8.44). rosario (6.64), fabio castro (12.27), and matt smith (11.25) have all been removed from the mix for the reasons of injury and demotions, respectively. but these guys are complete jokes.
i love zagurski, though. he is a cutie with a capital ‘C’.
it sucks for moyer as his arm has to fall off or arthritis has to set in very soon.
class divide: facebook v. myspace
i read a fun article about the class divide of facebook and myspace.
The goodie two shoes, jocks, athletes, or other “good” kids are now going to Facebook. These kids tend to come from families who emphasize education and going to college. They are part of what we’d call hegemonic society. They are primarily white, but not exclusively. They are in honors classes, looking forward to the prom, and live in a world dictated by after school activities.
MySpace is still home for Latino/Hispanic teens, immigrant teens, “burnouts,” “alternative kids,” “art fags,” punks, emos, goths, gangstas, queer kids, and other kids who didn’t play into the dominant high school popularity paradigm. These are kids whose parents didn’t go to college, who are expected to get a job when they finish high school. These are the teens who plan to go into the military immediately after schools. Teens who are really into music or in a band are also on MySpace. MySpace has most of the kids who are socially ostracized at school because they are geeks, freaks, or queers.
wii workout
so i know this has been done by others, but, i’m doin it too.
starting last week, i began my wii workout, which is mostly wii sports boxing for about an hour and a half. i use my mii along with a friend’s that is designated as left-handed to switch between dominant hands.
i am combining into it any of the on-demand ab workouts and drinkin butt-loads of water some with stolen strawberry protein powder.
big changes on the way
this weekend we procured a digi 002, a slick piece of recording magic. this will lead to the rising star known as chicky, the best ppdf band in philly, and to the 12th street schism biweekly podcast.
also, my apologies for disappearing for a few days, i’ve been insanely busy.
p.s.- my landlord is pissed at us, but will be less pissed when we invite her to our next party and to the grand opening of our social club.
facebook is lame
I remember the days when facebook was exclusive and fun and I poked until my day would end. then, the people at facebook started stealing away my fun by allowing creepers from everywhere, not just college.
Then they started adding these applications many of which didn’t work for at least the first week of being available. Also, so many of them are doubles; how many ways can I show people which countries I’ve been to.
I miss the old days of facebook. Please come back to me.
