reached the 900 hit mark today, which is no big deal with some websites, but its cool for me. this precedes my jump to moving to my own .com, which will come very soon. i know you’re excited, thats right, you, Leonard Nimoy.

also, i got my ticket for china this week. i leave for beijing/wuhan on august 23rd and will arrive in wuhan probably on august 25th.

last also, i am starting a pen pal program, hopefully, with my class in china. if you’re interested in writing with one of my students either comment or contact me.

i went to the movies on saturday with some of the 12th st schism. the plan: see license to wed, transformers, and knocked up. did we see them all? continue reading to see. before that story, i will review.

license to wed: a movie starring some of my faves from the office, robin williams and the delightful mandy moore. it started off at a funny level and declined into a love story. the decline lost the humor rapidly. i’d have to say it’s ok, not great. remember when robin williams hits jim halpert in the face with a baseball, i sure do.

transformers: shia lebouf was bangingly awesome. it was a good movie with mega-hottie meghan fox playing shia’s female interest. tyrese was also pretty good and the transformers looked pretty realistic. the downside to this movie was when the theater made me stop watching it.

knocked up: wouldn’t know, didn’t see.

the problem: middle of transformers, the emergency alarm goes off, which for a quick second i thought was part of the deceptacons takeover of the earth. but it wasn’t and i got super freaked out. we walked outside to find the everyone else leaving their theaters. we walked around to the front just to see optimus prime land in the parking lot angrily. oh wait, it was a fire truck pulling up to fix the tripped alarm and then i didn’t get to go to the movie and didn’t even get some free spraying coke.

i saw sicko on sunday. it was a compelling, humorous, saddening movie.

the film starts by depicting a few people who have had horrible accidents or diseases only to be told that their insurance would not be covering the problem or that their lack of insurance would lead to massive debt.

then he jumps abroad: canada, england, france . . . cuba. in each of these countries he mets people who have been receiving universal healthcare as part of their taxes and loving it. he also seems to find an american who has expatriated to the country in order to receive the care.

the first three countries are not so surprising to me, but in cuba, the americans that he brings with him receive amazing care with plans to follow after leaving the hospital. i was wondering at what point of the movie moore was gonna get some elective surgeries, but that’s neither here nor there.

reaction: i take the movie with a grain of salt as moore often finds people who will support his idea, while it may be just as easy to find the opposite. there has to be people dissatisfied with the quality of care or the quality of technology in hospitals in the rest of the no-charge world. however, a case is made for universal healthcare in the us. we’re #37 in healthcare and have a terrible infant mortality rate, its not like we’re paying for premium service. it is obvious changes are necessary, but how?

i think led zeppelin is way better than the rolling stones. but people seem to say that the rolling stones are like the greatest rock band in history. i think that the who are also better than the stones.

once upon a time, i lived in washington d.c. when i moved out, my mother and father came to help me move out.

my mother was in my room sweeping up a storm and i thought my room was pretty clean. as i walked into the room, i noticed something she swept from under the bed, an unopened condom. she let out a sigh/shriek and we didnt discuss it and then we moved on.

i went to my roommate’s room and giggled for a good bit, while she laughed at me. then, i went back into my room, just to see my mom sweep out another 2 wrappers, but these were open and hilarious. my mom again didn’t comment or converse about them, she just nodded angrily and i scurried to laugh again.

i love being awkward.
